Protecting Your Staffers from Harassment

Every year a staggering number of incidents of harassment are reported. An unknown number go unreported.  Intimidation and harassment directly affect your employees who are out in the public on behalf of your cause which is bad enough.  From a management perspective the impact is increased on your organization as it affects employee/volunteer morale and, inevitably, turnover.

A first of its kind, this guide from Hollaback was created to help employers and employees/volunteers work around street harassment.

Hollaback’s stated mission is a movement to end street harassment powered by a network of local activists around the world.  We work together to better understand street harassment, to ignite public conversations, and to develop innovative strategies to ensure equal access to public spaces. -

This guide provides employers, unions and service providers with the following:

  • an understanding of what street harassment is and what it looks like;
  • how it affects employees, union members and clients;
  • what can be done to support an employee, union member or client who has experienced it; and
  • where to refer an employee, union member or client who may need further assistance and support as a result of their experience.
